Out and About Teaching and Demonstrating in Yorkshire

Scampston Hall Gardens plien air drawing and painting course

Scampston Hall Gardens Drawing and painting course!

This year I have been doing a lot more teaching and demonstrating.

Media I have taught in has been Watercolour Acrylics, Pen

and Ink, drawing, Oils and pastels. Basically, the usual subjects. I have had a lot of new courses to teach then last year. The great thing is that some of them have been at beautiful places.

A new lovely place I had the pleasure to teach a course at was Scampston Hall Gardens (well worth a visit). The attention to detail in the gardens is meticulous. They have lots of volunteers who seem to love weeding!

At the first class we went into the cherry blossom garden and drew the trees. The sound of all those bees buzzing about collecting pollen from them, I wouldn't say it was deafening but it was certainly loud. All adds to the artistic experience.

It was fascinating to come back each week and find the garden changed from the previous week. The students loved the experience and settled into the new challenge of drawing and painting outside.

Ryedale adult education have planned another course there for me to teach for this September (see courses page). Just can't wait to go back and see how it has changed, all the tall grasses will be out.

Animalia Art at Coberhill Hotel.

In June I taught my first painting holiday at Coberhill Hotel. Coberhill Hotel has a very good reputation for painting holidays and is a great place to teach at!

Pleased to say that the holiday was a great success and everyone had a lovely time (with some belly laughs). I have been asked to do one next year. I have chosen a bigger brighter room, with a lovely big lounge just off it for next year. The studio we were in was great but the one for next year is even better!

As you can see the work the students produced was lovely!

The worked in any medium the wished. Water colours

Acrylics, pen and ink and pastels.
